Treatment Options for Secondary Liver Cancer
THE PATIENT'S GUIDE
There is strong evidence that selected patients with secondary liver cancer amenable to surgery may be offered worthwhile palliation and possible cure. In the Regional HPB Unit for Surrey and Sussex up to 50% of patients achieved a 5 year survival rate following surgery for secondary liver cancer and 50% will be alive at 10 years. About 25% of patients with liver secondaries may be suitable for surgery. Currently less than a third of suitable patients are being offered liver surgery.
