Since its inception £854,000 has been raised. Apart from the latest diagnostic and surgical equipment, a fulltime data entry clerk has been appointed to maintain records and follow up data on all patients undergoing liver surgery. In addition, we fund the salary of a full time Research Fellow, whose role has included successfully applying for ethics approval to run a trial to investigate whether radiofrequency ablation of operable liver tumours would produce the same long term result as open surgery. At the University of Surrey he has completed a study into gene therapy relating to liver cancer.
