Professor Nariman Karanjia MS, FRCS(Gen) trained in medicine at Guy's Hospital, London and qualified in 1983. Subsequently, following junior surgical posts, he was appointed to the St. George's Hospital, Registrar rotation. During his training he spent 18 months with Professor Howard Reber in Los Angeles.
In 1992 he was appointed Senior Registrar on the South West Thames rotation and completed his training in hepato-biliary surgery prior to being appointed Consultant Surgeon to the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, in December 1994.
The Liver Cancer Surgery Appeal was started in 1997 and the liver resection service at the Royal Surrey County Hospital commenced the same year. The service, and demand for surgery, continues to grow. In 2005 he became a clinical Professor.
