Role of the Liver Cancer Surgery Appeal

What The Appeal Does

Inform

• the Patient’s Guide of treatment options for secondary liver cancer
• glossary
• links for the medical profession and the lay person

Fundraise

What The Appeal Does Not Do

• offer medical advice – referrals may only be taken through a general medical    practitioner or specialist

What The Appeal Hopes To Do

• set up a clinical training centre
• set up a research and reference centre

Achievements

• the establishment of a liver service at the RSCH in Guildford in 1972

• to fully equip the liver unit with dignostic and surgical equipment

• this support has led to the RSCH becoming the Regional Unit for liver cancer surgery and treatment following a successful bid.   The Strategic Health Authority agreed to the development of the Unit
